HISTORY OF NETTIPATTAM
Nettipattam - "elephant caparison" or "elephant ornament," is a decorative headdress worn by elephants during religious and cultural festivals, especially during temple processions.
The history of nettipattam is deeply rooted in the cultural and religious traditions of Kerala. Elephants have been an integral part of religious ceremonies and festivals in the region for centuries. They are often considered sacred and are associated with various Hindu temples.
THE SYMBOLISM OF THE NETTIPATTAM
Royal splendor to any procession, the turbaned Gajaveeras are an integral part of the celebrations in Kerala. 'Nettipattam' is an ornament made of gold plated and placed on the elephant's head by a group of skilled artists.

NETTIPATTAM RELIGIOUS
Nettipattam – Elephant caparison is not just a decoration. It is a great temple housing thirty three crore deities. Each of the golden orbs(beads) are the symbols and it represent different concept of God.
Moolaganapati, Trimurtis, Saraswati, Lakshmi, Parvati, Sapta Rishis, Vishwamitra, Vishwakarma, Navagrahas and Ashtavasus. Moonbeams (Chandrakala) represents Sivasankalpa.
According to the Vedas, 33 types of deities are worshiped by those who believe in Sanatana Dharma. Those deities are 12 Adityas, 11 Rudras, Ashtavasus, Indra and Prajapati. Adityas are 12 solar months and 12 levels of social life. The Ashtavasus are the 8 root deities who represent the different levels of nature.
Nettipattam is a grand and ornate headgear primarily used to adorn elephants during temple festivals, processions, and other cultural celebrations. The Nettipattam is symbolic of majesty, grandeur, and tradition.
NETTIPATTAM MATERIAL
Traditionally crafted using materials is gold or gold plated. But in modern versions for wall hanging may use less expensive metals and it is plated color of gold in polymer fiber . They are adorned with intricate designs, often featuring motifs from Kerala's cultural heritage.
